This Really Made Me Laugh!

Out of everything I've written, this is the ONE thing Kelly didn't want me to post. So, I just HAD to! See in the first picture how Kelly
had a really good idea to carve a ghost. So he carved out the eyes, the nose and the mouth and then while he was carving out the shape of the ghost he realized...

...that he made a BIG mistake! Nice try honey! Oh man! I'm still laughing about this!

Giddy up!

Lilly's school Halloween party was today. She's a cowgirl and she has a horse but she didn't want to take it to school.
Today while they were eating their cupcakes, Lilly got frosting all around her mouth and kept making her friends watch as she waved her arms around and giggled, "Look at my mustache!" SPOTLIGHT!

I don't know, but I'm kind of impressed with my photography skills. Email me and I'll do your wedding for cheap!

Lesson Learned

This is what I get for talking on the phone.

A Horse is a Horse of Course of Course

Lilly LOVES horses. And unicorns. In fact, she's either one or the other for most of the day. When she neighs at me and I say, "Oh hi little horsey" but she's actually a unicorn then I'm in BIG trouble. I haven't learned to distinguish which neighs are horse neighs and which ones belong to the unicorn breed. There must be very intricate differences. So anyway, on to the real story...
We took the kids to the pumkin patch located in a casino's parking lot and let them play around and ride the ponies. Lilly was in heaven.

I'm sending out an SOS to the world

Dear Mother-in-law,

Last time you visited you said something that concerned me a bit and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. You see, you said Abe reminds you of Kelly when he was little. Now, Kelly is a fine man now and we have a jolly time together, but to be honest, I haven't heard one nice or pleasant thing about him as a child. I've heard about the time he was shooting moving cars with a BB gun and then ran from the police. I've heard about when he invited all the neighborhood kids to watch him as he planned to soar over a huge, wide cement drainage ditch with his big wheel. I've heard about his countless girlfriends (oh! have I heard about those) from a very young age. I've read an old letter from his grandmother noting that the only time he ever sat down was when he was watching TV. But you see, Abe won't even watch TV. One of my favorites is when Kelly was trying to cover up an actual hole in his neck with a bandaid. And of course you remember that Kelly had to be on a special all natural diet to help with his hyperactivity.

So, when Abe spits on us, wipes his boogies on my cheek and then laughs devilishly, bites my hand (like this morning) because I tried to hold his hand as we walked across the street, screams bloody murder when he doesn't get his way, tries to jump off everything (mind you, Abe's way of jumping is just sliding off an object, he doesn't actually propel himself away from the thing he's jumping off of), kicks me and pulls my hair everytime I try to put him in his carseat, runs away from me and into the street as we take walks, tortures his sister, and the list goes on and on, I get a little scared at what I may have "to look forward to."

So my question is not how do I make Abe be civilized and calm, but really, HOW DID YOU SURVIVE?
Love,
your daughter-in-law

Poor Bug is Dead. Poor Lady Bug is Dead

'Twas a sad day in our home today. Lilly had a pet lady bug for about five minutes and then it died. Today was the funeral. Look at the poor dear so distraught.
Abe was a trooper and helped dig the grave.
Rigamortis had already set in, as it had actually died several days ago, but Lilly held it so lovingly in her hand pre-burial.

A little rock tombstone was placed at the gravesite in remembrance of the dead bug. Too bad the backyard is getting dug up next week.

So what! I'm still a rock star!

I wrote this post several weeks ago, but I'm just posting it now so it may have lost some of it's pizzazz. Talk about procrastination!

Okay, so yesterday I had several errands to run while Lilly was at school. I HAD to take Abe so Kelly could work on his physique. No big deal cause I only had a gazillion stops to make in about an hours time. Well, we rushed out of the house and I knew Abe had on Lilly's mary jane shoes, but I didn't think much of it (Abe is always contained in the stroller when we go run errands) until we pulled up to Lilly's school. That's when I realized that Abe only had Lilly's shoes to wear. Oh well, only a little bit embarrassing. I've seen and done worse.

I showed the picture to Kelly when he got home and said, "Hey look at what Abe was wearing in front of masses of our peers when I got Lilly from school!" He didn't think it was as funny as I did. And so I say (or did I just think it?) "Don't be such a stick in the mud." And I can totally say that because 1.) I love him and 2.) it's a FACT.

Where Oh Where Has My Little Girl Gone?

Lilly stuck her tongue out at me today in sheer defiance. Even though her naughtiness made me laugh she was sent to her room straight away. I do NOT put up with such things! I also overheard her saying to herself (she often talks to herself), "It was so fun. Like, it was so fun." WHAT? Hello 1985! Like where'd she get that from? She also keeps referring to her rear end as her butt. My mother taught me never to say such a word and I've passed that on to Lilly. I like bum better anyway. It's just a little more lady-like. Then while in the car snacking on some red vines she says "Look mom" and she then proceeds to puff on it like it's a cigarette. Well, great. Even though I remember doing that with pretzels as a youth, she's just FIVE! She then says "I'm drinking coffee, too!" Okay, well I guess we need to do a little review of the Word of Wisdom. Pa-lease! She also was talking about her cousin's friend as his "girlfriend" and then informed me that she had a "boyfriend." My head started spinning but before I passed out I asked her what a boyfriend is and she plainly stated that it's a friend that's a boy. THAT I can handle. However, it was just too much for one day. So I definitely took the time to adore her little face tonight as I put her to bed. Too many days and nights go by when I don't take the time to enjoy looking at her big beautiful eyes that seem to change color, her little nose, chapped lips from the dry weather, soft cheeks (which I kissed over and over again and she even asked for more!) and just the sweetness of her. It's good to be reminded that these little ones grow up so quickly!

p.s. I just had so much to say that I wrote another post below. Don't you feel lucky?!?!

The Joy of Home Ownership

We've lived in our new house exactly one week today. Yeah! We've already learned some very valuable lessons. I hope that there is one person in particular who has learned a very valuable lesson. This person, who shall remain nameless, must first admit to themselves that they are not a fix-it person. This person also needs to accept the fact that we might just have to pay other people to do things like hook up the washing machine correctly so that the water doesn't leak into our lovely and perfectly carpeted floor so that we don't have to rip up said carpet and matting underneath to soak up the gallons of water that leaked out of said washing machine. (You may now catch your breath from my run-on.) It just so happens that this person still will not admit that he/she did anything wrong. "There was something wrong with the pipes," they said. Aargh!

Ode to Sister

Ode to Sister

Oh! Sister! You are so giving, so loving and so kind.
I received your present in the mail today
and almost lost my mind!
Oh how I love my special gift,
so colorful and red.
I shall wear it everyday
til that day when I am dead.
You are my favorite sister,
that much I know is true.
I hope someday to be
as good a sister as you.
But til that day when I grow up
and joy such presents won't bring,
I'll be content to wear my dear apron
from fall until the spring.

HOLD THE PHONE!!!!

Um... yeah, uh... Just kidding!?! I guess we are getting the house and we move in tomorrow. How's that for real estate drama? I would like to thank all of you for the sympathy and encouraging words. Between that and my trips to Cafe Rio and Golden Spoon I was feeling much better. I did receive one gift which will be blogged about later because it deserves it's own special post.

And because I like to eat when I'm excited, happy, nervous and overwhelmed, I plan on doing just that this entire weekend in between unloading all of our junk. Good thing Cafe Rio is on my speed dial.

More to come...

Boo Hoo!

So as we usher in the fall (is it still considered fall when it's 100 degrees outside?) and all the excitement that goes with it (Halloween, cookies, cooler weather, presents, baked goods, presents, pies, etc...), I regret to inform you that we did not get our house. I had such dreams for this house and all the memories that were all created in my mind's eye are just not to be. There will be another house, perhaps even this one when it goes into forclosure, but Kelly and I are maybe a bit tramatized. We'll recover but we'll gladly accept presents to help us deal with our pain. Obviously our address hasn't changed. (Commence loud sobbing) And because I'm Mormon and must always remember to count my many blessings, I shall name a few:

1. I can stop the tedious task of packing up the last 20% of our household belongings which still linger here and there.

2. I can forget about deep cleaning of house and let it return to it's natural filthy state.

3. Because I like to eat to mask my pain, I shall treat myself to Cafe Rio this weekend. Perhaps tomorrow. Anyone up for it?

4. Kelly and I can postpone the inevitable arguments over paint colors which I fully intend on winning.

5. Because I like to shop to mask my pain, I shall shop till I drop this weekend and use the extra mortgage money that we don't need to support my habit.

6. I got pulled over today for late registration and got off with a warning because Heavenly Father knew I couldn't handle getting a $400 ticket on top of everything else.

7. Because I like to eat to mask my pain (did I already say that?) I might go to Golden Spoon with snickers on top.

Well, onwards and upwards as I always say.
