I'm failing as a mother

So, Lilly comes in this morning to get me up. Kelly and I get out of bed and I say, "Let's make the bed." Lilly watches us straightening the blankets and she asks, "What are you doing?" She didn't know what it meant to make the bed. I was speechless. What kind of mother am I who has a child who doesn't know what making the bed is? I have failed. Needless to say, this will become a priority in our home (as it should have been, oh, about four or so years ago)...This is sad.

Happy Easter!! (part two)

We quickly got ready for church and we were almost late (although it starts at one). Lilly had on several accessories (i.e. sparkly bracelettes and white pearl necklace with large heart pendant) and after she got dressed in her Easter dress with her hair curled she strutted around the house looking quite pleased with herself...

...as demonstrated by the pose in this picture.
This picture pretty much describes what Abe was like the entire day.
Abe was so tired after church (he didn't get a nap) that he appears very subdued here eating spaghetti with the bib on his head. He went to bed soon after.

Happy Easter!!

Hey everyone!! We hope you had a great Easter. Ours was fun and a bit hectic, too. Here are a few highlights of the past two days. I can only upload so many pictures per blog, so I might write another one tomorrow, or just figure out how to do a slideshow. Here we go:

Here is Lilly decorating Easter eggs. We waited until Abe was taking a nap because I can't even imagine the mess he would have made. Kelly really got into it, too.
Here is Lilly discovering her Easter basket on Sunday morning. She loved running around the house searching for eggs. She told me on the way home from church that she wished she could search for hidden eggs everyday.
Here is Abe discovering Cadbury eggs...
And here is Abe shoving half of one into his mouth.
There are just a few. More to come...

The other day I had the vacuum cleaner out to actually do some cleaning around the house. Whenever I get it out, the kids want to help which is great because the sooner they can share the load the better. Well, I had turned away for a minute to talk to Kelly and I heard them fighting over the vacuum, but I didn't think that much about it until Lilly really started to cry. I looked over and Lilly had her hand on the vacuum cleaner handle and Abe was biting her fingers to let go so he could hold it. I'm glad they want to participate, but that was going a little too far. So, I grabbed Lilly and tried to comfort her and Kelly told Abe (in a stern voice) not to bite his sister which made him cry and so Kelly was trying to console Abe. This went on and on and on and so I grabbed some frozen blueberries which made both kids feel better and we had a peaceful house once again. Here are a couple of photos of the now happy kids with blue mouths. There's also a picture of Lilly's bite wound. He got her pretty good and there was even a little bit of blood.

I have no idea what I'm doing

Okay, so I've decided to write a blog. I currently have nothing to write except that today I've wanted to lock myself in the bathroom with the water running so that I wouldn't be able to hear Abe screaming/crying and Lilly telling me I did something wrong and/or whining about...well, everything. I really do love my children. Anyway, I'm going to try to figure out how to add pictures and cute borders and write clever things so I can be a good Mormon mother. But honestly, I think this will be a great way for you all to stay in touch with our family here in Sin city. We'd like to hear from you, too!
