The good and the bad

The bad news is this: my dear Abe broke his arm and bonked his head and couldn't get up in the morning. I wasn't home so I don't know what happened for sure, but I was led to believe he fell off his scooter whilst playing in the backyard which is the size of a dog run in case you want to know. It's a minor break and we were dreading a cast but after he fell off the counter this morning (prepare yourself for a run-on) and I woke up to the sound of things falling on the ground and Abe screaming and then I began screaming and running downstairs whilst yelling for Kelly to wake up and we both ran in the kitchen in such a panic that I couldn't even see straight to find Abe on the floor with a sore bum, we agreed to get a cast. This kid is going to kill me. Anyway, the point is that the arm needs to heal before he can break it again.
Incidentally, Kelly and I were just commenting the other week on the fact that Abe hadn't broken anything yet. Stupid us for saying it out loud. Next time, we just need to pass notes or text each other what we're thinking.

And the good news is this: while walking into Target today with just Oliver (that's part of the good news that I didn't have to chase any kids on a trip to Target) a beloved lady asked how old he is and I said he was almost 9 months and then she said this, AND I QUOTE:
WOW, YOU LOOK GOOD FOR JUST HAVING A BABY

I love her.

sh*t

Pardon my french, but when this happens, it ain't just poop.

Upon our horrifying discovery Kelly did the most romantic thing; with nary a word he scooped up the baby in the carseat as if it weighed nothing, carried "the mess" to the bathroom and scrubbed that baby til he was brand spanking new. It was chivalry at it's finest.

Let's play a game

GUESS WHO DOESN'T FEEL WELL?
GUESS WHO CAN SIT UP FOR MORE THAN TWO SECONDS? FINALLY!
GUESS WHO DOESN'T CHANGE A POOR HELPLESS BABY'S CLOTHES WHEN THEY ARE BEYOND GROSS?

GUESS WHO I LOVE?

Quote of the Day

Yesterday we went swimming with some friends at their community pool. As we were trying to gather up all our gear to leave and just as a family of 6 were about to enter the pool, my dear Abe yelled, "I JUST WENT POTTY IN THE POOL!"
His timing couldn't have been better.

Huh?

Conversation with Lilly whilst doing her hair
L: Mom, do you like funky?
Q: Yeah funky's the best.
L: Well, I don't like funky.
Q: Why? Cause it's different?
L: Yeah.
Q: It's good to be different.
L: Well, I like myself.
Q: That's good. That's important.
L: But I don't like funky.
Q: Well, what's funky to you?
L: Funky is what Shrek wears.
At this point I was stumped. I don't get it. But, if I like funky and Shrek wears funky...what is she trying to tell me????

An open letter to Kelly from his son

Dear Dad,
Look at this face! I deserve better. I mean, mom has been asking (oh so politely) for weeks for you to get down Abe's old clothes out of the overhead storage in the garage.

I look like an orphan!
Love,
Finn
